By strengthened climate protocols and regulates, recent technology including air conditioning system and refrigerant system industries has been challenged to produce alternative refrigerants corresponding to the conditions. It is necessary to develop a stand-alone refrigeration system with a Low-GWP refrigerant, which has a GWP of 150 or less. A performance design program has been developed for a fin-tube evaporator of a refrigeration system, which is capable of changing the working fluid as low-GWP refrigerants. The program consisted of inputting major geometrical parameters, such as fins and tubes, and operating conditions for the evaporator in the refrigeration system, selecting the calculation methods, and then executing the calculation. In order to apply R455a refrigerant below GWP 150, consideration should be given not only to changes in properties due to temperature and pressure, but also to the refrigerant pressure drop that can significantly increase compared to the existing one. Parametric study has been carried out for the refrigerant tube arrangement. Even if the total number of tubes in the evaporator is the same, the performance change can vary greatly depending on the arrangement of the refrigerant tube. |
