초록 To clarify the heat loss mechanism in DI diesel engines, total and radiant heat fluxes at various point on the piston head of a rapid compression-expansion machine were measured using thin-film thermocouples. Ambient oxygen volume fraction was varied to investigate the effects of flame temperature on heat loss. Experimental results showed that the spatial distribution of radiant heat flux is uniform. A comparison between the measured total and radiant heat fluxes showed that the contribution of the radiation to the total heat loss is approximately 7% regardless of the change in the oxygen volume fraction from 21% to 15%.
