A vehicle restraint system has to meet not only several regulations such as FMVSS 208, EU Directive 96/97 EC but also NCAP requirement. In order to satisfy those requirements, the activation of restraint system has been usually designed to be somewhat sensitive to the crash event. Unfortunately, several accidents due to aribag induced injury at relatively low speed were frequently reported these days in US and domestic market. This paper proposes a new concept to improve the current restraint system performance. |
