초록 Three types of Active Front Steering(AFS) systems for SUVs are proposed in this study. The AFS systems provide additional steering force with a Variable Steering Ratio(VSR) for easy steering. They also control the steering angle to allow the yaw rate to track the reference yaw rate. Lateral stability and steerability are also enhanced. The three AFS systems are designed with fuzzy logic control, sliding mode control and PID control. The results show that the AFS achieves very good kinematic steering assistance function and kinematic stabilization function. The VSR shows good performance when the SUV runs on a snow-covered road during deceleration. The three controllers exhibit similar performances but they improve the lateral stability and reduce response time during deceleration.
