The purpose of this study is to find the implications for the kickstand design changing factors of a two-wheeler, which has been used recently as one of the parts of mobility service systems. By reviewing historical references and interviewing two-wheeler production engineers, this study observed the design characteristics of the kickstand with its origin, evolving history, and applications. In this study, the implications for kickstand design changes were inferred by the traffic environment analysis of two wheelers, including bicycles, motorcycles, and electric kickboard. As a result, the current left-handed kickstand, which is deployed on the majority of electric two wheeled kickboards, should be reconsidered to be changed to right-handed direction in order to reduce obstacles in the field of vehicle technology and driving customs of riders so as to improve traffic safety and user convenience. The main objective of kickstand design in future mobility systems is to fulfill the independent needs of each passenger, and design variety will be the most evident character of future micromobility to meet the needs of safety and convenience. |
