| 초록 | This study aims to investigate the effect of the scorching process on the friction coefficient and squeal noise characteristics of automotive brake friction materials. The scorching process involves burning off organic substances on the surface of the friction material to improve braking efficiency in new brake pads, potentially affecting the initial friction coefficient and noise characteristics. In this study, friction materials subjected to different scorching conditions were mounted on a noise dynamometer, and measurements of the friction coefficient and squeal noise evaluations were conducted under identical environmental conditions and test modes. The experiment revealed that friction materials with more intensive scorching exhibited greater variations in friction coefficient, while showing somewhat unfavorable squeal noise characteristics. This study confirms the influence of the scorching process on the friction coefficient and squeal noise characteristics of friction materials, and is expected to assist in utilizing the scorching process as a tuning factor for squeal noise reduction in friction materials. |
