Recently, there has been a lot of research and application of giga-grade steel in the automotive industry. This study has been conducted on applying giga-grade steel through suspension arms. Through this study, a weight reduction structure with a giga-grade assist arm was designed. Based on the design, durability analysis was conducted, prototypes were produced, and the cross-sections of the welds were analyzed. Additionally, chassis module durability, impact and static strength tests were conducted on the produced prototypes. As a result, it was confirmed that the new assist arm, while reducing thickness and weight compared to the existing assist arm, satisfied the durability and impact tests. However, in the case of static strength, it failed one out of three tests, suggesting that applying it to vehicles with lower loads could lead to improvements. |
