Switching converters, such as Buck and Boost converters, are essential in modern power electronics but generate switching noise due to parasitic elements, causing EMI issues. The adoption of Silicon Carbide (SiC) and Gallium Nitride (GaN) FETs, while improving efficiency and reducing switching losses, has intensified these challenges. Metallic housings for heat dissipation further transmit switching noise, leading to common mode noise and degraded EMC performance. This study proposes a novel housing structure utilizing parasitic capacitance between the housing and FET source to reduce noise by 10 dB, This study not only eliminates the need for costly Y-capacitors but also provides a practical solution for improving EMC performance in power systems. The design's effectiveness is validated through 3D EMC simulations, offering a practical, cost-effective solution for high-efficiency power systems. |
